2016年10月31日，应外文学院外国文学研究所邀请，美国哈佛大学Elisa New教授为英美文学方向的研究生作了题为“美国城市诗人：从惠特曼到嘻哈文化”的讲座。Elisa New教授通过不同时代的诗人诗作向师生们展示了现代都市纽约的环境变化，用全新的方法对诗歌进行了解读和阐释，令人印象深刻，深受启发。
