2014年1月6日上午，旧金山州立大学孔子学院在旧金山州立大学召开新闻发布会，正式启动2014年“第十届汉语桥杯中文比赛（K-12）”。比赛从1月6日开始接受报名，至2月6日截止报名。本届比赛仍由旧金山州立大学孔子学院与旧金山联合学区共同主办，由孔子学院总部和中国驻旧金山总领事馆教育组提供赞助。比赛目的是为湾区学生提供更多的机会来展示他们在本地中文教师及父母的指导下，所掌握的中国语言和文化方面的才能。2014年是这一赛事成功举办的第十年，过去的历届比赛，受到旧金山湾区广大中小学汉语学习者的广泛欢迎，参赛人数逐年递增，预计2014年将达到一千五百多人次。

      中国驻旧金山总领事馆教育参赞徐永吉，旧金山联合学区副学监David Wong, 以及比赛组委会全体成员出席了新闻发布会。孔子学院院长谢家新主持了新闻发布会并详细介绍了本届比赛的相关情况。David Wong代表旧金山联合学区向第十届汉语桥杯中文比赛的成功启动表示祝贺，并表达了与旧金山州大孔院加强合作的美好愿望。徐永吉参赞首先祝贺比赛的成功启动，接着向参与各项筹备工作的孔子学院全体教师，湾区教师和志愿者团队表示感谢，最后预祝比赛能够不断提升水平，扩大规模，为中美人文交流继续做出积极的贡献。

本届比赛定于2014年2月15日和16日两天在马连拿初中（地址：3500 Fillmore Street , San Francisco, CA 94123）举行。比赛包含6个项目：2月15日主要举行毛笔书法、硬笔书法、绘画、作文和翻译共五个大项的比赛。2月16日举行中文诗歌朗诵比赛。3月21日举办颁奖典礼，届时将颁发包括一、二、三等奖和优胜奖在内的近200个奖项。中国驻旧金山总领事将设晚宴招待获奖选手、家长和老师，庆祝第十届汉语桥杯比赛圆满成功。

      作为汉语桥杯比赛的主办者，我们希望通过中文教学的不断发展，推动美国学生对于中国语言、中国文化和中国历史的了解，进一步提升学生对于中文和中国文化的学习热情。

The 10th Chinese Bridge Cup Contests for K-12 will be held in SF

      [San Francisco] On January 6, The Confucius Institute at SF State held the News Release Conference at San Francisco State University, officially launched the 10th Chinese Bridge Cup Contests (CBCC) for K-12 Students. The purpose of the contests is to provide more opportunities for local students to demonstrate their linguistic and cultural talents, and showcase their interests and achievements in learning Chinese language and culture with help from their teachers and parents.

      Jointly organized by the Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University and San Francisco Unified School District, sponsored by Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban and Education Office of the Consulate General of the P.R. China, the CBCC is celebrating its 10thanniversary by offering more exciting events in larger scales. In 2014, CBCC is expected to involve more than 1,500 local students. Through the Chinese Bridge Cup Contests, the organizing committee hopes that the study of Chinese will not just connect American students with the language, but also with the culture, literature, and rich history of China, thus to promote understanding of the Chinese language and culture both in the classroom and beyond.

      David Wong, Assistant Superintendent of San Francisco Unified School District, Yongji Xu, Chief Consul for Education from the Consulate General of the P.R. China in San Francisco and the 10thCBCC Organizing Committee presented at the New Release Conference. Director of Confucius Institute at SF State, Professor Jiaxin Xie hosted the news conference and made a complete introduction to the Chinese Bridge Cup Contests. On behalf of the San Francisco Unified School District, Assistant Superintendent David Wong expressed his good wishes to the contest and promised a better cooperation in the future. Chief Consul Yongji Xu mentioned in his address three major points: congratulation to the successful launch of the 10thCBCC; appreciation of the hard work by judges and volunteers; expectation to the coming 2014 contests.

     The contests will be held at Marina Middle School (3500 Fillmore Street, San Francisco, CA 94123) on February 15th and February 16th, 2014. Contestants will be divided into 5 groups (K / 1-2 / 3-5 / 6-8 / 9-12) to participate in six major contests, including Brush Calligraphy, Pen Calligraphy, Painting/Drawing, Composition, Chinese poetry recital, Translation & common knowledge about China and U.S.A. A grand award ceremony will be held on March 21stand nearly 200 students will be rewarded. Consul General of the People’s Republic of China will invite all winners and their parents for a reception at Consulate General of the P.R. China in San Francisco.
